The Creaky Cauldron has been continually occupied either as an Inn & Coaching House, a private dwelling or business premises for over 450 years with a very traceable history.  This makes it one of the oldest and most continually occupied buildings in Stratford upon Avon.  For many years the building was known as the White Lion Inn and is mentioned by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Rupert Graves and other literary luminaries.  The Prince Regent and members of the household of the illfated monarch Louis XVI of France stayed in specially prepared rooms.  The inn was the largest coaching inn in europe stretching all the way from Windsor Street to Shakespeare's birthplace and from Henley Street to Guild Street and included gardens, stabling and barns - sadly none of which survive to this day.  The building is full of dark histories and terrifying tales and includes information about the Stratford Witchcraft Murders, the Stratford Ripper, Demons, Devils and all manner of evil as well as all manner of terrifying tales and exhibits - it truly is a museum full of dark history!  All the stories that you hear or read about have been thoroughly researched from the archives and public records or are first hand experiences from staff and visitors including internationally famous mediums.  None of the stories that you hear on our ghost tours are made up to frighten you and none of them are delivered by actors with theatrical effects.........

 

We are continually voted as the most haunted museum and visitor experience both in Stratford upon Avon and in Warwickshire by guests, psychic mediums and paranormal groups alike and we run overnight vigils and ghost hunts every week. These take place in what is without doubt one of the country's most haunted venues and the levels of paranormal and spiritual activity never fail to amaze and terrify.  If the date you require is not advertised, then the likelihood is that a paranormal event company is running the event - call us and we will pass their details on to you.  We also run candlelit ghost tours, scare tours and private events.  The building can be hired for private parties and paranormal investigations.
