From Terrifying Tales by candlelight to the extremely spooky Imagiscarium of Dr Thaddeus Bombay, the Creaky Cauldron is bubbling over with Halloween activities this October.  So grab your broomsticks and head over to Shakespeare’s hometown for some hocus-pocus as only the people from the Seek The Magic Organisation know how!

Stratford upon Avon’s award winning museum of Wizardology has conjured up a spooky theme to welcome trick or treaters of all ages to a happy haunting ground full of ghostly (not ghastly) fun during the annual Halloween Festival this October. With teachers from Magic School on hand to demonstrate the ancient art of Potion Making and from Scare School to teach little horrors how to scare safely it promises to be great fun.  Even the Pumpkin Father will be making an appearance to preside over the Pumpkin carving Competition and classes.

There are no costumed scarers to jump out and go “boo!”  and the ghostly apparitions are more spooky than terrifying so the whole experience is family friendly – although the Imagiscarium carries a parental advisory note with “dark corridors, mirrored hallways and mannequins that move”...

However at the Bombay Family Grand Emporium guests can visit the World Famous Wand emporium and Magic SpellBox Company store as well as partake of a tankard of Dr Bombay’s non-alcoholic Original Recipe ButterBeer or infamous Iced Pumpkin Juice in the Taming of the Brew Tea Shop.   There is a fully functioning Witches Apothecary to buy your magical ingredients; a wizarding confection collection at Auntie Emmentaal’s Little Sweet Shop and you can even send a letter by Dr Bombay’s Owl Postal Service where everything leaves with a Creaky Cauldron postmark!

Wizarding fun for all!

But by night it’s a different story as the Creaky Cauldron shrugs off its spooky air and dons an altogether more sinister shroud with 31 bone chilling nights of entertainment that is strictly for grownups every night in October - all the way to the night of Halloween itself!

The Annual Halloween Festival is now in its fifth year and is so successful that many of the evening events are already sold out with additional performances being made available. “In fact we are already taking bookings for next year,” says Dave Matthews, CEO of the Seek the Magic Organisation.

This year the scares include the Terrifying Tales of the Stratford Ripper Experience, Victorian Séances, Overnight Ghost hunts and, new for 2010, the Jekyll and Hyde Experiment which promises to be the scariest event ever put on at the Festival, but remember to book as there is extremely limited availability.

Yes, Stratford promises spooktacular fun for all the family this autumn – miss it if you dare......

The Stratford upon Avon Halloween Festival 2010 at the award winning Creaky Cauldron Museum in Henley Street, where magic begins....

Stratford-upon-Avon’s original Victorian Halloween Festival is back –
bigger and even scarier than before.......

The annual Victorian Halloween Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon is even bigger and scarier than ever before. Now in its fifth year, the month long festival will take place at Bombay Manor in the award winning Creaky Cauldron museum in Henley Street from Friday 1 October – Sunday 31 October. Taking visitors on a phantasm-agorical journey through the extremely weird and scary world of Dr Thaddeus Bombay and his travelling Imagiscarium, the festival is an absolute must for those interested in the paranormal.

The spectacular festival is packed with child friendly activities including free pumpkin-carving workshops, ghost stories and competitions. During half term week from 22 – 31 October, children will have the chance to meet the 7ft Pumpkin Father and be entertained by Victorian street performers and magicians in Henley Street.

However adults can look forward to a range of far more terrifying events in the haunted museum, reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in England. Events include ‘Terrifying Tales by Candlelight’ with one of England’s most enigmatic storytellers, Tarot & Oracle Card readings, overnight Gothic Ghost Hunts, Victorian Séances and A Night at Scare School workshops.

New for the autumn and taking place every Friday evening during the festival is The Jekyll and Hyde Experiment, officially the scariest experience in town. Featuring the most terrifying story of all based on the Victorian tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the experience will take the very brave on a journey deep into the unconscious mind.

At the rear of the building is an old fashioned Victorian Tea Garden, the perfect place to relax and calm your nerves! The Taming of the Brew will be serving a range of special Halloween delicacies including Pumpkin spiced coffee, Dr Thaddeus Bombay's Original Recipe Butter Beer and Cauldron Cake.

The annual Stratford Halloween Festival was founded in 2005 by the Creaky Cauldron and has grown in popularity each year attracting thousands of people from all over the UK. The Creaky Cauldron is also home to ‘Seek The Magic’, a business recognised the world over as the leading and most traditional manufacturer of magical wares. Sold from the premises, some herbal recipes are over 350 years old whilst some of the incense blends date back over 2000 years.
