Welcome to Le Grand Macabre
- Stratford's original ghost festival website that runs for six months, from the Winter Solstice to the Summer Solstice - making it the longest ghost hunt in the world!

Stratfords original ghost festival, the Spooky Solstice at the Creaky Cauldron, Warwickshires most haunted museum and scare attraction, brought to you by Black Letter Days and the Stratford Ripper Experience

Solstice, An astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun's apparent position in the sky to reach its northernmost or southernmost extreme. The name is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because at the solstices, the Sun stands still in declination; that is, the apparent movement of the Sun's path north or south comes to a stop before reversing direction. The term solstice can also be used in a wider sense, as the date (day) when this occurs.

Ghosts, ghouls and hauntings have always been shrouded in mystery, speculation and controversy. This site aims to demystify by sweeping away the myths, lies and legends to provide a fascinating, and sometimes disturbing, journey into the paranormal world of poltergeists, the restless (and sometimes troubled) undead and the spectral truth of Stratford upon Avon's ghosts.
