THE STRATFORD ALEHOUSE (SHAKESPEARE CAMRA PUB OF THE SEASON, SUMMER 2014)

njs/22015ale.jpg

The Stratford Alehouse is a little bit special. Not only because it is the first micropub in town, but there is no music, flickering television, noisy children or gaming machines.

It is ideal for a quick slurp after work or to meet with friends for a good hearty chat. Many a time I’ve been in there putting the world to rights with my friends, or just popping in to relax and unwind – and you never know who you might meet in there, I’ve certainly meet a few wonderful new friends, especially in the arts world.

The team, Phil and Bill, like to keep things basic, which seems their secret to success. The guys said: “If you want hot food there are plenty of excellent restaurants within a stone's throw. However, we do have a few dry snacks to accompany your favourite tipple.

We're family-run and our mission is to serve real ales and ciders straight from the barrel to your table (whenever possible) - what could be simpler? We believe in supporting the smaller, local breweries as well as casting our net further afield.

“Our wines are personally selected and changed on a regular basis. Because we have relatively fewer overheads than the larger pubs we can keep our prices down and pass these savings on to our customers whilst not compromising on quality.”

They are also dog friendly and even have free gravy bones!  And if you're a Camra member you'll get a further 20p off a pint of cask ale - join now!  They added: “We look forward to meeting you very soon. Please call in and introduce yourself – we think you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.”

The Stratford Alehouse is in Greenhill Street and is usually open from 1pm-8pm (or later)! Last admission 30 minutes prior to closing.

Telephone 07746 807966 or visit www.thestratfordalehouse.com for updates and latest offers.

Cheers!
