Magical power originates in the subconscious mind. Scientists have done
a lot of research on the split brain nature of humans and have managed to prove that there really are two people inside each
and every one of us. It is a proven fact that the right side and the left side have completely different functions and that
we only use a tiny part of the brains capabilities.
The left side of the brain (or left brain as we should call it) deals
with language, ideas and analysis. The right side (or right brain) deals with intuition and recognition. The left is the scientist
and the right the artist. They are connected by nerve fibres and if separated can create some odd responses….
The left brain governs the right hand side of the body and the right
brain governs the left.. The left is also the “I” or the ego, and the right is the “Id” or the unconscious.
So far so simple, however, there is also the cerebellum or “The Old Brain” which some psychologists says is the
home of paranormal experiences. It is worth noting at this stage though that under hypnosis, it appears as though the left
brain has been put to sleep and the right brain is brought to the fore – not the cerebellum.
In magic, we try to stimulate parts of the right brain and the cerebellum
using Alpha or meditative techniques and by using universal symbols and acts of morphic resonance as an impetus. Since the
left brain is precise rather than forceful and the right brain is forceful but lacks preciseness we have to teach them to
work together.
Acts of morphic resonance (the repetition of phrases or actions by hundreds
and thousands of people over countless years) and magical exercises can help you to teach the right brain to discipline its
force. Remember, the right brain reacts to imagination not precise ideas so the need for creative visualisation is really
important here.
Magic is the result of an effect that has no observable cause but is
never the less the result of a subtle movement of natural energies to bring about change. It is not supernatural!! Whatever
exists is entirely natural, and therefore any act of magic is an entirely natural act.
When mankind evolved to the point of being able to think in concepts
it moved his position in the food chain away from those beings that thought purely by instinct. This evolution brought about
a “self-consciousness” rather than a “brute-consciousness”. These differences do not mean that only
mankind has the power of thought – nature proves that all living things can think, albeit for the most part instinctively
rather than conceptually.
Mind is therefore implicit in all things and matter is only the physical
manifestation of that reality. It would seem therefore that there is only one life energy force that everything shares. The
aim of magic is to link this life energy force with the unconscious mind. All thing created by man are physical manifestations
of what were once ideas or thoughts. Consider what thought is… it cannot be destroyed and will always exist, even if
as a subconscious memory. Thoughts are real things. We have two requirements to successfully practice magic the first is the
development of the both sides of the brain, and the second is the awareness of what we can do.
The ultimate purpose of magic is a better understanding of the universe
and a closer connection with your own creative force, by whatever name you choose to call it.
