We want everyone to enjoy as much as possible within the museum.
We have a "Welcome All" policy and we look forward to welcoming guests who have a disability, together with their
necessary companion. We are keen to promote access to as many areas as possible and for our guests with disabilities to gain
as full an experience as possible within the constraints that a listed building allows.
We also promote that guests with disabilities
and their necessary companion are treated with respect and in a manner conducive to their needs. It is our wish to ensure
that all our guests including those with disabilities receive the same standard of service.
However, some parts within the building have restricted access for safety reasons. Please ensure
you receive a copy of our guide for guests with disabilities called "Enjoy Your Day".
Number 21 Henley Street is over
450 years old and is ranged over three floors which means sadly that access is limited to the ground floor for those with
decreased mobility.
The building has uneven floors, steep and narrow stairways, and on the top floor low doorways
which may be difficult for some of our customers. If you are unable to manage stairs, access to the ground floor
retail area and tea room is available free of charge. We are currently working on a video virtual tour that will be
displayed there.
For customers with reduced seeing ability, we have a large print version of our guidebook along
with (at weekends) the chance to have a guide accompany you to tell you about the exhibits.
Access to the ground
floor from the street is via a very small step downwards that is clearly marked - if you need assistance, you only have to
ask.....
01789 290969 option 1 for disabled access information. DISABLED DRIVERS - There are a number of free bays immediately outside the building
for disabled drivers. No Charge for drivers displaying Disabled Badge in all Council Car Parks. Two hours free parking allowed
on double yellow lines provided clock and disabled sticker are displayed. No time limit on single yellow line parking provided
clock and disabled sticker are displayed, and that an obstruction is not caused.
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995

on their ability to carry out normal day to day activities. Substantial being more than minor or trivial. Long term being

Individual guests with disabilities and their necessary companions will be given
half price admission to the museum on request.
